I am one third of the way through the year and am very pleased with my progress so far, one third of the excess weight has gone. This is a roller coaster ride which is made more bearable by the encouragement and support of a loyal band of fellow 'losers' who share the journey with me. 

As the weight melts away, the task gets more difficult.  The body fights to retain what it has gained.  The mind must be strong to overcome the habits of many years. 

The payoff is worth the effort.  I feel fitter and healthier.  I  embrace the new approach as a permanent lifestyle change for the better.  I 
am doing this for my future well-being. 

I know this is right for me.

New beginnings

On the 9th January 2015 I started using an app I had downloaded last year. My Fitness Pal has been a great help.  The instant feedback is a great motivator. 

I have been making an effort to do more exercise as well.

In the light of day these sins I will confess.
Old habits rear their heads to bring me dire distress.
Mere mortal mind is weak and prone to discontent 
in the dead of night, when calories are spent. 
The midnight munchies strike, insidiously tease 
with forbidden fruits, like chocolate and cheese. 
My will MUST be strong to resist their lure.
I WILL achieve my goal. Of that, you CAN be sure.
